Ford’s F-150 is by far the most popular four-wheeler in the United States, so it is not surprising that Ford wants to continue to focus consumers’ attention on the pickup truck. There is another facelifted variant in the barrel and our espionage photographer has managed to get that renewed F-150, designed as SuperCrew, in front of the lens.
Ford managed to sell no less than 896,525 copies of the F-150 in the United States last year, and with that, the pickup could again call itself the most popular car in the country in 2019. Although that number was 1.4 percent below the number of F-150s sold in 2018, it is considerably more than the 633,694 pickups that RAM managed to sell off last year. The F-150, which was launched on the market in 2014, was facelifted in 2017 and will be operated again this year.
Well, the second point-by-point session Ford is taking on the F-150 seems to be less invasive than the 2017 facelift, but there are still a few differences. The F-150 thus apparently gets a new grille, flanked by new headlight units. Lower on the nose we notice a new front bumper. The external changes go hand in hand with the introduction of electrified versions. For example, a hybrid version comes to strengthen the ranks and it cannot be excluded that Ford will launch a PHEV version of the F-150. The brand already confirmed the arrival of an all-electric version last year, but it is not yet known whether that plug version will be presented immediately when the F-150 is updated for the second time. Ford pulls the screen of the modernized F-150 later this year, possibly during the Detroit Motor Show, which opens its doors in June this year.
