Nowadays many homes are on a Nowadays many homes are smart(er) in one way or another. This is possible with smart lamps from, for example, Philips Hue or a smart thermostat from, for example, Nest. However, you can also install an entire home automation system in your home that controls multiple devices and turns your home into an intelligent home. Busch-Jaeger has the Busch-free@home available for this. The ABB-free@home system consists, among other things, of smart switches that ‘control’ your lamps, for example. This means that this switchgear must be built in, which is useful if you are renovating or have a new-build home. So you no longer have to plug in a socket for the lamps. You can also set various light scenes, also in combination with Philips Hue. In addition, you can use ABB-free@home for opening and closing curtains, door communication, air conditioning, et cetera.

CONFIGURATIONS
You can choose from different configurations with the ABB-free@home system, the most extensive of which is equipped with a ABB-free@home panel. This clearly shows all the devices of the rooms that you want to control. Just like on your switch, computer, smartphone and tablet, you can call up a complete scene with just one push of a button. Handy if you want to immediately create a cozy atmosphere with one button. Moreover, you can also switch everything off immediately with the handy all-off button, for example when you leave. Busch-Jaeger also has a handy and cheaper starter kit, the Busch-Jaeger Starter package 2.0 Wireless for Asch-free@home, which we have tested.
STARTER PACK AND APP
This starter pack consists of a free@home WLAN Access Point 2.0, three sensors/actuators, three cover frames and four rockers. This access point will be located at a fixed location and will connect the users with the devices to be controlled. Busch-Jaeger recommends a maximum of four users at the same time, in practice this will rarely occur at home. An electrician can easily install everything during the new construction or renovation, or you have to be very handy yourself. After switching on the (bus) voltage, the System Access Point (only on 2.4 GHz) automatically detects all devices present and correctly connected in the system. You can then get started with the user-friendly ABB-free@home app: the configuration is smooth and you can then adjust the settings (brightness, times, etc.).
CONCLUSION
If you want a nice solution to control your home with a good home automation system, then you can certainly get by with the ABB-free@home system. The system looks nice, it works well and the app is easy to use. Incidentally, the price mentioned here is a suggested retail price, it is well discounted on dedomoticastore.nl.
