Roewe R-Aura Concept: electric and slick

The Chinese manufacturer Roewe has shown four design sketches of a new study model. You guessed it: the new show car is equipped with a fully electric drivetrain.

Roewe is a car brand founded in 2006 that operates under the wings of SAIC Motor. The company initially sold only models that used part or all of the technology of the Rover, which was defunct in Europe. Meanwhile, the brand has a range of fully own models and it seems that the line-up will be expanded in the future with a slick lined all-electric sedan.

Roewe shows some digital drawings of the R-Aura Concept, a preview of a fully electric flagship. Although Roewe keeps technical specifications under control – it will release all details in mid-May – it is clear that the brand wants to add a Tesla Model S-like to its range.

We see a study model with strikingly pinched lighting units that are connected by a thin LED strip. The R-Aura Concept has a striking windscreen that extends far into the roof, recessed handles and a rear where we not only encounter heavy bumper work, but also lavish lighting. In the B-pillar, a ‘smart camera’ has been incorporated that provides you with or without access to the car, based on facial recognition. More digital trinkets come in the form of 5G connectivity and a digital assistant to chat with. More information will follow in May.
