New Apple event at the end of October: all about the Mac
Are you ready yet? According to rumors, there will be another Apple event with new Macs at the end of this month. This is what usually reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman says.
Gurman bases these rumors on the fact that some Mac models have been poorly available at Apple stores for some time. Typically this occurs when Apple plans to launch a new product.
Several Macs are currently experiencing these delivery issues. For example, the iMac (24 inches) and the MacBook Pro (13 inches, 14 inches and 16 inches) are all poorly available. Gurman says this is a sign that ‘something’ is going to happen.
The Apple expert also says that we can expect several new products during this Mac event in October. But the chance is greatest to see a new iMac. The current iMac hasn’t had an upgrade in over 900 days. It is also the only Apple model that still has an M1 chip.
Gurman also thinks we will see new MacBook Pros (14 inches and 16 inches). That would secretly be a big surprise, because new MacBook Pros were already released in January this year. Gurman says it’s not often that we get a second update to an Apple product in one year, but it is possible.
Gurman doesn’t say much in his latest posts on Twitter about what exactly we can expect from the iMac upgrade. But he has previously said that the iMac will not have an M2 chip but an M3 chip.
He also says that you shouldn’t expect too much from the upgrades for the new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros. Not much will change except a new chip. He previously said that the MacBook Pros with an M3 Pro and M3 Max chip will not arrive until sometime in 2024. This would mean that during the Mac event in October, the MacBook Pros will receive a minor update to, for example, an M2 Pro or M2 Max chip.
Mac event October: but how?
The fact that rumors say that there will be a Mac event in October does not mean that an extensive presentation from Apple should also be expected. It could well be that Apple chooses to present the new Macs using press releases. Perhaps there will be a short video, but that is not certain at all. So just wait and see.
