Apple is rumored to release two MacBook Pro laptops with XDR screens later this year. The iPad Pro unveiled yesterday already has such a mini LED display.
MacBook Pro with XDR screen on the way
The rumor comes from TrendForce. The Taiwanese website writes that Apple plans to release two new MacBook Pro laptops later this year. The small model would get a 14-inch screen; the larger variant measures 16 inches.
The biggest innovation is that the laptops switch to an XDR screen, which is the abbreviation of “Extreme Dynamic Range”. As you would expect based on the name, this screen type excels in color range. The contrast ratio of an XDR screen is also very good.
Yesterday, Apple presented the iPad Pro 2021. The 12.9-inch model already has such an XDR screen, but Apple uses the marketing name Liquid Retina XDR. The screen of this tablet consists of 10,000 LED lights that can be dimmed locally. This gives the iPad Pro 2021 an incredibly high contrast ratio.

Besides the rumor about the screen of the MacBook Pro 2021, Trendforce does not release many details. It is expected, however, that the new laptop will have an M1 processor. Apple makes this chip itself and the 13-inch MacBook Pro, which came out at the end of 2020, is already equipped with it.
Previously it usually wrote reliable Bloomberg all that the MacBook Pro of 2021 no longer has a Touch Bar. The touch-sensitive bar would make way for a strip of physical control buttons.
Apple currently has four computers with the M1 chip in its range. The MacBook Air, MacBook Pro (13 inch) and Mac mini were already updated last year. The 24-inch iMac will be added soon. Apple unveiled this desktop yesterday at the Spring Loaded event.
