Sales of passenger cars are picking up again. More cars were registered in April than in the same month last year. The sale of company cars is also on the rise, Automotive Management reports based on figures from RDC.
In April 6,555 new commercial vehicles were registered. According to Automotive Management, which is based on figures from RDW, this is 65.6 percent more than the 3,958 company cars registered in the same month last year. In April last year, new commercial vehicle sales fell by nearly 40 percent as a result of the pandemic. In the first four months of this year, some 27,000 new company cars have now been registered, some twenty percent more than in the same period last year.
Volkswagen turned out to be the most popular commercial vehicle manufacturer in April. The brand’s 1,418 vans were sold, almost 86 percent more than in April 2020. Ford finished in second place with 1,178 commercial vehicles sold. The brand thus records a growth of almost 94 percent behind its name. Places three to five are filled successively by Mercedes-Benz (817 units, +15 percent), Renault (791 units, +86 percent) and Peugeot (481 units, + 50.3 percent).
April was also a good month for new passenger car sales. 23,846 new passenger cars were registered, 55 percent more than in April 2020.
