With the 990 EVO Plus, Samsung delivers an SSD with better performance and more economy than predecessors, and with a capacity of up to 4 TB. The 990 EVO Plus achieves random read and write speeds of up to 1.05 million IOPS and 1.4 million IOPS, according to Samsung.
Samsung today announced the introduction of the 990 EVO Plus as an expansion of its existing range of SSD products. With support for PCIe 4.0 interfaces and the latest NAND technology, the 990 EVO Plus is a suitable solution for consumers who want better performance and energy efficiency. The 990 EVO Plus is a successor to the Samsung 990 EVO NVME SSD that PC-Active previously tested.
Better performance and energy efficiency
The 990 EVO Plus achieves sequential read speeds of 7250 megabytes per second (MB/s), while write speeds are up to 6300 MB/s, an improvement of up to 50% over the previous 990 EVO. The improved performance is thanks to Samsung’s latest 8th generation V-NAND technology and 5-nanometer (nm) controller. In addition, an innovative nickel-coated heat shield minimizes overheating, delivering 73% higher energy efficiency than its predecessor.
The 4TB model has an excellent random read speed of 1.05 million IOPS and 1.4 million input/output operations per second (IOPS) for random writes. This remarkable performance is almost as good as that of SSD products with DRAM, despite the fact that no DRAM cache is used, making it an optimal solution for gaming and demanding AI tasks.
Larger storage capacity
For large file management, high-quality video editing and next-generation gaming, the demand for devices with high storage capacity is growing. That is why, in addition to the 1TB and 2TB versions of the 990 EVO Plus, Samsung also offers a very large capacity with a 4TB model, more than that of the 990 EVO. The 990 EVO Plus features Samsung’s intelligent TurboWrite 2.0, redesigned for maximum performance, with fast file transfer speeds and reduced latency.

Samsung Magician software provides many optimization tools for better functionality of all Samsung SSDs, including the 990 EVO Plus. Users can streamline the data migration process for SSD upgrades seamlessly and securely. In addition, Samsung Magician protects valuable data, monitors the health of the SSDs and provides customized performance optimization.

Price and availability
The 990 EVO Plus will be available from week 43 (the week of October 21) for a suggested retail price of €129.99 for the 1TB model, €219.99 for the 2TB model and €409.99 for the 4TB model.
