Samsung again faster than Google, August security update on the way

Samsung has already released the August security update, while Google has yet to provide its Pixel 6 phones with the update. If you have a Samsung, you can expect a security update from now on. The Galaxy S22 series is the first to turn.

Samsung Galaxy S22 gets security update from August

Androidworld reader Marco informed us this morning about a new update for his Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. It concerns the security update from August that Google will only make available for its Pixel phones next week. Samsung is now outperforming Google almost every month.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 and the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus can also receive this update in the coming days, as well as other Galaxy phones. Samsung launched the Galaxy S22 series early this year with the Android 12-based One UI 4.1. The phones can count on four Android updates, and at least five years of security updates.

It is not yet known which security problems Samsung (and Google) have tackled exactly. Samsung will communicate this in the coming days via its Security Bulletin.

To download

The update is approximately 418 MB and, in addition to the August patch, also includes the well-known performance improvements and stabilization improvements. The update also updates a number of Samsung apps to the latest version. If you don’t see a notification on your phone yet, you can manually check for the update. To do this, go to: Settings -> Software Update -> Download and Install.
