Samsung achieved its largest turnover ever in the last quarter of 2021. Strong smartphone sales, especially the flagships, have played a role in this. Samsung is now looking forward to S21 FE and S22 series sales.
Sales record Samsung
Samsung published on January 27 are financial results for the fourth quarter of 2021. The company achieved its largest turnover ever in the past three months and at the same time its largest profit in four years. Not only the smartphone sales have led to these positive numbers, but also the sales of: televisions, professional network equipment, home appliances and semiconductors.
The contribution of the network and mobile division accounted for a turnover of 21.4 billion euros out of a total of 207.6 billion euros. Samsung says it is particularly satisfied with the sale of its phones in the highest price segment and then we have to look at the Galaxy S21 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Z Flip 3.
More competition in 2022
Samsung already expressed its satisfaction with the sale of the Galaxy Z phones last year. The company currently has a 93 percent market share with the sale of foldables, which was announced at the end of 2021. We expect competition for foldable phones to increase in 2022. OPPO, Google and Honor are coming up with a competitor for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and both Huawei and Motorola are looking to compete against the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
Looking ahead, Samsung states that the first quarter of a year tends to yield weaker results, but the company still expects good results with sales of the Galaxy S21 FE and S22 series.
