A new rugged smartphone from Samsung is on the way: the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro. We are already seeing renders of the device and many of the specifications have already been leaked. The XCover 6 Pro works with a much more powerful chipset with 5G, extra storage and RAM, a larger battery and two cameras.
Samsung Galaxy XCover 6 Pro
If your new phone has to be able to take a beating, you can look forward to the upcoming Galaxy XCover 6 Pro from Samsung. The smartphone has been leaked on renders of the reliable OnLeaks and they reveal a rugged design that is very similar to its predecessor: the XCover 5. It is only noticeable that the phone this time has smaller screen edges and a second camera lens.
This time the screen is a 6.6-inch LCD, which is a lot larger than the 5.3-inch panel of the XCover 5. Samsung also uses a Full HD resolution this time, but the refresh rate remains 60Hz. In terms of performance, there is also an upgrade across the board. The XCover 6 Pro has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor with 5G modem and furthermore there is 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The battery has also become more than a quarter larger and there is now a 4,050 mAh battery. The XCover 6 Pro also runs on Android 12.
Wide-angle camera and extra button
Another aspect that stands out is the camera. In addition to the 50 MP main sensor, there is room for a wide-angle camera with 8 or 12 MP. There is also still a 3.5 mm audio jack and Samsung has an extra button on the top of the phone. Presumably, users can link a function or app to it themselves. The phone will also be water and dust resistant and the XCover 6 Pro is therefore IP68 waterproof.
At the moment it is not yet known when this phone will be on the market and what the suggested retail price will be. The XCover 5 came on the market last year for 289 euros, but the more powerful specifications of the XCover 6 Pro lead us to suspect that it will cost a little more. The Galaxy XCover 2 Pro was also leaked in March and that seems to be a different device.
