Samsung has been a prominent presence at IFA in Berlin for years and is once again presenting many new products and updates this year. Here is an overview of the introductions, including two new Galaxy Books and the European rollout of the Bespoke AI washer dryer.

IFA is celebrating its 100th anniversary and that was the occasion for Samsung to briefly look back on this during their press conference. Samsung then discussed their vision ‘AI For All’, with which they bring AI within the reach of even more people. AI for All was explained with presentations such as ‘AI Meets the World’ and ‘AI Meets You’. In these, speakers showed the crucial role AI can play in improving the quality of life by providing users with the right tools. First the new notebooks, then AI is discussed.

AI For All
AI for All is relevant to a range of AI products, from mobile devices and home appliances to home entertainment systems. Samsung expects that as many as 200 million Galaxy AI devices will be in the hands of users by the end of 2024.
At the heart of this is the growing SmartThings ecosystem, which connects over 500 million devices and provides easy remote control across all Samsung AI-enabled products, such as turning the heating on or off, managing appliances, whether users are home or away, and controlling Samsung TVs.
It’s never been easier for people to harness the power of AI to change the world around them. Yet only 15% of consumers say they fully understand how AI can be applied to their daily lives. At the same time, 66% of us are looking for ways to free up more time. It shows how Samsung’s AI can give back to people, and why AI is meant for everyone.[1]
The latest One UI operating system upgrade, version 6.1. 1, will launch after IFA, bringing the AI features seen on the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, such as Live Translate and Circle To Search, to the Galaxy S24, Z Fold5, and Flip5.
The rollout of One UI 6.1. 1 also brings several new apps that provide greater power for creativity and connection. Sketch to Image lets users visualize their ideas by creating a drawing that is then transformed into an image. Portrait Studio encourages creativity by helping users create a personalized avatar to use online.

AI Meets You
Samsung wants AI to improve daily life with personalized entertainment. At IFA 2024, Samsung launched The Premiere 7 and 9 projectors, the Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 and the Galaxy Book4 Edge 15-inch, all products that help users focus on what matters to them.
The Premiere 9 and The Premiere 7 advanced laser projectors deliver stunning 4K resolution and striking sound on screens up to 130 inches for your home theater. They feature AI-driven technology including Upscaling, which enhances content to near 4K quality, and Vision Booster, which adjusts brightness and contrast for optimal images in different lighting conditions.

TV, The Frame, Bixby and more
Also on the IFA stage were the latest innovations for Samsung TVs. Since 2015, Tizen OS has been running on hundreds of millions of smart TVs and has changed the way we watch TV. Starting this year, all new Samsung AI TVs and selected 2023 models will get guaranteed Tizen OS updates for seven years.
Samsung’s Neo QLED 8K AI TVs now offer an enhanced viewing experience thanks to the NQ 8 AI Gen 3 processor, with 512 neural networks — eight times more than before. This ensures sharp images, beautiful sound, and the smoothest picture yet.
IFA also saw the announcement of new collaborations between The Frame and Art Store, including an exclusive collection of 12 artworks by Belgian surrealist René Magritte. These partnerships bring extraordinary art into the home, making users’ everyday environments feel magical.
Samsung is taking advantage of its Bespoke AI devices[2] easier with improved voice control via Bixby upgrades. The latest Bixby understands multiple commands in a single sentence, can contextualize[3] remember and provide personalized answers, even to product-related questions[4]This allows users to express their wishes more easily and naturally.
In addition, Samsung offers more control and accessibility. For example, there is a function for automatic door opening on some washing machines and refrigerators, which you can use with a light touch or by simply saying: “Open the refrigerator door”, without additions such as “Hello Bixby”.

AI Meets the World
On stage at IFA, Samsung announced that its Bespoke AI washer dryer is now rolling out across Europe. The all-in-one washer and dryer is the perfect solution for those looking to save space. This smart appliance does both washing and drying in a single cycle. It not only meets the energy requirements for an A-label, but even exceeds them by 20%[5]The combined washing and drying cycle also has an A rating[6]. Thanks to advanced heat pump technology, clothes dry quickly, gently and efficiently, even at lower temperatures.
The SmartThings ecosystem contributes to energy efficiency by implementing many small changes at once. For example, with SmartThings Away Mode, users never have to worry about forgetting to turn off a light or the TV when they leave. Sensors detect when no one is in the room and switch off the devices accordingly.
Bespoke AI devices also enable energy cost savings through Optimal Scheduling and Charging, which delays the start of a wash or charge to avoid peak hours
