Scoop: new hypercar McLaren on display!

Techzle has surfaced patent plates of what is a brand new and not yet revealed or announced McLaren. It appears to be a new model to be added to McLaren’s Ultimate Series. A straight hypercar!

The McLaren range is currently still made up of three series. The Sports Series, which will disappear after the arrival of the already announced Artura, has the Super Series and Ultimate Series above it. The Super Series consists of the 720S, 720S Spider and the 765LT. The absolute nose of the McLaren salmon is the Ultimate Series. The Ultimate Series currently includes the Elva and the luxurious Speedtail as well as extremely fast. In addition, the Senna and Senna GT-R fall under the Ultimate Series. Techzle has surfaced patent records of what is most likely an as yet unknown new addition to the Ultimate Series.

McLaren Senna GTR

McLaren Senna GTR

Let the speculation begin. The car on these patent plates is clearly recognizable as McLaren, but is really completely new. Striking is the body kit that McLaren has hung around the car. The whole thing breathes somewhat the atmosphere of the Senna and in particular that of the track version of that car: the Senna GT-R. Striking design elements are not only the lavish spoiler work all around, but especially the enormous rear wing that rests on top of an upright fin on the back of the car. The cut-outs in the roof confirm that McLaren also gives this newcomer up and forward opening doors. Just as striking is the heavy diffuser and the tailpipes placed centrally in the rear. The already mentioned Senna also has its exhausts centrally in the middle of the rear, although they are placed higher there and the design is different. The rear lights seem to be made up of dozens of LEDs that are placed on top of the remarkably low rear. It is therefore not inconceivable that this is a concept car.

McLaren P1

What is McLaren up to with this newcomer? We are not entirely sure, but we suspect that this new hypercar is more or less the direct successor of the P1. The P1, presented in 2013, was a plug-in hybrid hypercar that was the first of McLaren’s Ultimate Series to be listed. The car was a direct competitor of the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder. The P1 and later P1 GTR never had a real successor. The Senna was not electrified and too hardcore and the Speedtail and Elva are also cars with a different character. In any case, count on a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Whether the combustion engine is the new V6 of the announced Artura or whether it has two extra cylinders, remains to be seen. Given the extreme spoiler and wing work of this new McLaren, it is not inconceivable that we have here the successor to the already completely sold out Senna. Just wait and see.
