Show descriptions of buttons on the Taskbar

Don’t always know which program or document is hidden behind an icon on the Taskbar? Change the settings and the buttons get a clear description.

Open programs appear on the Taskbar in Windows 10 as buttons with a logo. Several open windows are hidden together behind one button. Change the settings of the Taskbar so that windows are separated from each other and there is text on the buttons.

  • Right-click on an empty space in the Taskbar. That’s a place where there are no icons.
  • click on Taskbar Settings.
  • Click the drop-down menu under “Combine toolbar buttons.”
  • click on When taskbar is full.

In principle, each window now has its own button on the Taskbar with the name of the active program or document written out. Only if there are a lot of windows open will the windows of one program be combined.
