Siri is the intelligent assistant built into your iPhone, iPad, and Mac that makes everyday tasks easier and faster. Thanks to the capabilities of Apple Intelligence, Siri remembers the context to provide even more relevant answers.
In addition, with your permission, Siri has the ability to tap into ChatGPT’s expertise. This can be especially useful when you have questions that are more extensive or complex than what Siri can normally answer. This makes Siri not only a simple voice assistant, but also a valuable source of information.
Siri remembers the context
Apple Intelligence lets you ask Siri questions related to your previous questions while maintaining context. Siri knows what you asked and will answer based on what you said before.
For example, you can say or type something like How is PSV performing this season? Then you can ask: When is their next match? Finally you can say: Add this to my Agenda.
- Activate Siri, for example by saying: Hey Siri
- Ask a question, see the answer
- Ask another question immediately after your first question

In addition, the intelligent assistant also understands what you mean if you stumble over your words during your question. For example, you can say, “Siri, set an alarm – wait no, sorry, I meant a timer for 10 minutes – actually, let’s make that 15.” Siri understands what you mean and starts a 15-minute timer.
In a later update, probably from software version 27, Siri will also understand what’s on the screen of your iPhone, iPad and Mac and you can ask questions and give commands based on that. For example, you can ask Siri what is in the photo or how to place notes in a folder.
ChatGPT together with Siri
Together with Siri, ChatGPT will take on a more important role. This way you can contact the chat robot directly via the voice assistant and ChatGPT will be used to request information about certain topics. This includes consulting information about a specific dog breed with Siri.
The voice assistant can then tell you what the specific characteristics of the breed are. If desired, the information is requested from ChatGPT via Apple Intelligence.

Example Siri and ChatGPT
Do you want to use ChatGPT in combination with Siri? Then you must mention ChatGPT in the question, below are some examples:
- Hey Siri, ask ChatGPT to summarize this document for mefor example with a PDF of a rental agreement opened in the Files app.
- Hey Siri, ask ChatGPT to compose a haiku about dragons.
- Hey Siri, ask ChatGPT for some ideas on how to spend a free afternoon in Eindhoven when I don’t feel like going downtown.
- Ask ChatGPT what kind of recipes I can make with this? on a photo of fruit open in the Photos app.

If you ask Siri something without mentioning ChatGPT and Siri thinks ChatGPT might be helpful, Siri will ask if you want to use ChatGPT for your question. You will always be asked for permission before photos or files are sent to ChatGPT.
If you want Siri to use ChatGPT without asking you for permission each time, go to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri ▸ ChatGPT ▸ turn off Confirm Requests.
