A bit more extensive than it seemed

The current Skoda Octavia has been with us for four years now and we had actually expected it in a facelifted form. Things didn’t go that smoothly, although the refreshed Octavia is now on its way.
The brand new Skoda Superb has been drawing attention lately, but Skoda certainly hasn’t forgotten its more compact brother. Yet it seemed that way for a while, because it was quite quiet around the Skoda Octavia for a long time and for the last sign of a facelift we have to go back in time about a year and a half (!). Then the Octavia was spotted for the first and last time with an extensively wrapped front and rear. Things seem to have changed since then.
In a fresh teaser image of the Skoda Octavia we see headlights that differ slightly from the current ones. There is now an extension downwards for the daytime running lights. In the current pre-facelift version of the Octavia, the headlights have a more straightforward design. Furthermore, it appears that the Skoda logo on top of the nose can now be illuminated (probably optionally). We will soon see this on the facelifted Volkswagen Golf, with which the Octavia of course also shares the necessary technology.
Speaking of technology: Skoda recently brought the plug-in hybrid version back onto the market here in the Netherlands and you can undoubtedly expect it again after the facelift. The electric range of the Octavia with plug will probably improve with the facelift; Big brother Superb can travel up to 100 km thanks to a 25.7 kWh battery pack. Also count on mild-hybrid petrol power sources. We expect the reveal sometime in the coming months.
