Skoda outlines Enyaq iV

Skoda will be presenting its first basic car developed as an electric model to the world public later this year: the Enyaq iV. The Czech manufacturer is now showing a set of design sketches of this newcomer.

Skoda has the teaser taste for it. The marketing apparatus is running at full speed, which has resulted in two design sketches of the upcoming Enyaq iV. The Enyaq iV is an important model for Skoda. Although the brand already offers an electric version of the Citigo, that little one has not been developed as a fully electric model. However, the Enyaq iV is!

In fact, you should see the Enyaq iV as the upcoming Volkswagen ID.4 from Skoda, but with its own body. The design of the Enyaq iV is clearly derived from that of the Vision iV Concept that Skoda showed at last year’s Geneva Motor Show. However, where that study model was a so-called coupé-SUV, complete with a steeply sloping roofline, the Enyaq iV is a regular SUV with a roof that continues further to the rear. So count on the arrival of two body styles. The style of the rear lights is broadly similar to that of the concept car already mentioned. The same goes for the front design of the electric SUV.

Skoda previously showed a design sketch of the interior of the Enyaq iV. From the digital drawing it could be concluded that the Enyaq iV will have a fairly minimalist-looking interior in which a wide infotainment screen is mounted next to the digital instruments. The Enyaq iV will also have a two-spoke steering wheel.

The Enyaq iV, along with a wide range of new EVs from the Volkswagen Group, will be placed on the modular MEB platform dedicated to electric cars. The Enyaq iV will be 4.65 meters long and 1.62 meters high. This makes it no less than 28 centimeters longer than a popular SUV-type like the Nissan Qashqai. At 2.77 meters, the wheelbase corresponds to that of Volkswagen’s ID.3. The luggage compartment has a volume of 585 liters, slightly less than that of the Octavia Combi (610 liters).

Specifications

The electric Enyaq iV will of course be available in various flavors. The basic version will receive a 52 kWh battery pack in combination with a 148 hp electric motor. That variant, which has to travel 340 WLTP kilometers on one charge, will get another variant with a 58 kWh battery pack and one with a 77 kWh battery pack. They have a 179 hp electric motor and a 204 hp electric heart respectively. The 77 kWh variant comes in two four-wheel drive variants. There will be an 80X with a total power of 265 hp and an RS topper with 306 hp. The range of these two versions is 460 km.

Skoda will present the Enyaq iV to the world on September 1 in Praat. At the end of this year, the first Enyaq iV units will roll out of Skoda’s factory in the home city of Mladá Boleslav. The EV will be at Dutch dealers early next year.
