Toyota is making its smallest electric car available to a wider audience. We are talking about the Toyota C+ Pod, a compact electric city car that is now also available to consumers.

Almost exactly a year ago, Toyota pulled the curtain on the C+ Pod in Japan. The C+ Pod is a tiny electric two-seater that, with a length of 2.49 meters, is one centimeter shorter than the Smart City-Coupé from 1998. However, the C+ Pod is also 20 centimeters narrower than the original Smart and that gives a nice picture of how small Toyota’s electric city car is. The C+ Pod was initially only available in Japan for local governments and business users, but is now available to everyone and from now on also for sale.

The electric range is 150 kilometers according to Toyota. The top speed of the rear-wheel drive C+ Pod is 60 km/h. The highway did not measure the little one.

As far as safety systems go, the C+ Pod benefits from things like pedestrian and cyclist detection as well as front and rear parking sensors. The C+ Pod is not coming to Europe for the time being. Incidentally, the C+ Pod is the production version of the Ultra Compact BEV concept from 2019.
