The A and B segments of the automotive industry, i.e. the city car and the compact hatchback. They have one thing in common in this edition, they are becoming more and more sporty.
No fewer than 8 out of 10 cars have a special sports version. One calls it ST line, the other RS line or brands opt for the classic GT designation. All names convey the sportiest version of the model. Lots of horsepower, sporty seats and a low road layout so that you as a rider fly well through the bends. The cars that fall within the compact segment of the VZR Lease Top 10 have a starting price of less than € 20,000.
Twice family success in the compact segment
Both Toyota and Peugeot manage to get two models from their brand family into the top 10 this time. Toyota does that with the time and again successful Aygo (4) and the renewed Yaris (7). The latter model has worked a lot on its image this year and now presents itself sportier and more comfortable than before. This is clearly appreciated by the business driver.
The Peugeot family consists of brothers 108 and 208. The Peugeot 108 (10) closes the Lease Top 10 respectively. This Peugeot model has the same technology as the Aygo and the C1 (8) and therefore also has a 7-inch display with Android Auto. This makes driving to locations easy with Google maps as navigation and your favorite music service in the background. The new 208 (2) earns its place, among other things, due to the beautiful i-Cockpit 3D. It consists of a digital instrument panel, a 10-inch touchscreen and seven toggle switches that resemble piano keys.
The most appreciated compact hatchback
We find the Opel Corsa (1) at the top of the list. Opel has given the B-segmenter a metamorphosis. Especially the lines of the car have been hit; it is all a lot sportier. Opel extends this to the interior with colored lines on the dashboard and upholstery. The business driver clearly has an eye for it, with 3,339 registrations, this Corsa is the number 1 of this edition.
The Ford Fiesta (3) and the Renault Clio (5) are in the same category as the Corsa. With 2,664 registrations for the Fiesta and 2,022 registrations for the Clio respectively, these sporty looking models are also loved by drivers.
Just a bit different from the rest
The other city cars in this top 10 all come from the same factory. Volkswagen and Kia do things slightly differently. The Kia Picanto (6) lives up to its name and is distinguished by its spicy appearance. At Volkswagen, the well-selling Polo with a starting price of € 20,420, – falls just outside this compact edition of the Lease Top 10, but the Up (9) from Volkswagen is included. This smallest Volkswagen manages to get a place in the top 10 again with its space.
