The Spotify app for iOS has a new look. With the latest update, users will see a new music library, where music and podcasts are clearly separated from each other. For example, Spotify tries to further stimulate listening to podcasts.

The Spotify app has a new music library after the last update. Music and podcasts are split in it under two separate tabs. This mainly makes podcasts easier to find. Previously, podcasts were just one of the many options in the music library among all the music. Now they are prominently at the top.
The tab that shows podcasts is split into different parts. This way you can see which episodes of your favorite podcasts are new or which you haven’t listened to completely, so you can continue listening immediately. Under the heading ‘Downloads’ are the shows that you have made available offline. The ‘shows’ section shows all the podcasts you have subscribed to.
Update available from now on
The other ‘Music’ tab is now fully focused on the music you’re listening to. So you will no longer find podcasts there. Here, under different headings, you’ll find playlists you often play, artists you find interesting and albums you enjoy listening to. Spotify’s update is available today and is rolling out to Premium users. The update will automatically become available on your iPhone or iPad, after which you can use the new music library.
It is not entirely unexpected that Spotify makes podcasts more accessible in the app in this way. Since this year, the music streaming service has focused more on Podcasts. Earlier this year, for example, it took over podcast maker Gimlet and Anchor, a program for making podcasts yourself, was also owned. Spotify CEO Daniel Ek then indicated that he expects that within a year 20 percent of all listened streams on his platform would consist of podcasts.
