Stellantis beats Volkswagen in European sales figures

Stellantis sold more cars in Europe in January and February than the Volkswagen Group. The good sales of light commercial vehicles makes the difference.

Now that Groupe PSA and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles have merged into Stellantis, a very large concern has emerged in one fell swoop. The fact that it covers so many brands does not harm Stellantis. Figures from the European trade association ACEA, seen by Automotive News, it appears that in the first two months of this year Stellantis immediately sold more cars than the previous number 1: the Volkswagen Group.

With the combined sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, Stellantis amounts to 480,888 cars sold in those months. Volkswagen Group at 452400. A significant difference, therefore, that Stellantis mainly owes to the good sales of its light commercial vehicles. Stellantis sold 103,644 of these, compared to Volkswagen Group’s 32,545. Stellantis also had the most popular passenger car in Europe last month, that was the Peugeot 208. It takes over from the Volkswagen Golf. When it comes to the sale of only passenger cars (377,244 units), Stellantis still loses out to the German concern (419,855 units).
