TR addition without wing
Subaru makes its currently sportiest model a bit sportier. The naturally not cowardly Subaru WRX is now also available as an even sharper WRX TR. That Subaru WRX TR has now been introduced to the world.
One of the nicest Subarus that the brand has on offer for those who like a bit of hard driving is the WRX. The Subaru WRX is not available in the Netherlands and that loss may become even greater with the arrival of this TR version. The WRX, a sporty sedan that has always been loaded with crossover elements since its current generation, gets an extra sporty version in the form of the Subaru WRX TR. It does not have more power, by the way. Just like the WRX, the WRX TR has a 275 hp and 350 Nm strong 2.4 boxer engine with turbo. In the long term there may be an extra potent WRX STI, which the gentlemen and ladies of Subaru Tecnica International have been involved in. Until then, the WRX TR is the ‘hardest’ WRX.
As a TR, the Subaru WRX TR gets extra potent Brembo braking and the chassis has also been tightened. Subaru gives the WRX TR stiffer springs and differently tuned dampers. The steering is more direct than that of the TR-less WRX and the new variant comes standard on 19-inch wheels, around which Subaru has wrapped Bridgestone Potenza S007 rubber. Subaru removes the glass roof from the WRX TR to save weight and gives the WRX TR standard Recaro sports seats. The WRX TR always has a six-speed manual transmission. The regular WRX is also available with an automatic transmission.
The WRX TR previously leaked onto the internet with a large rear wing. The WRX TR gets this depending on the market in which it is delivered. In the United States – where it has only been presented so far – the car has to make do without the large rear spoiler. Unfortunately, the WRX will not come to the Netherlands and you should not expect this TR version here either.
