Surprise: iPhone 13 Pro Max can charge faster with 27 Watts

Apple itself has not said a word about it, but the iPhone 13 Pro Max appears to be able to charge faster than its predecessor. The maximum speed is about 27 Watts.

iPhone 13 Pro Max can charge faster

The maximum charging speed of the iPhone 12 Pro Max is about 20 Watts. Apple gives the same value for the new iPhone 13 Pro Max, but that turns out not to be entirely correct. The YouTube channel ChargerLAB has examined the device and comes to a different conclusion: you can charge the iPhone 13 Pro Max with a maximum of 27 Watts. Then of course you have to use an adapter that can handle such a speed. Think, for example, of the charger of your MacBook.

Incidentally, the smartphone does not maintain that pace constantly. To prevent overheating, the 13 Pro Max automatically switches back after a while. Still, this means that you probably charge the smartphone a little faster than its predecessor.

Surprise: iPhone 13 Pro Max can charge faster with 27 Watts

Apple tends to be very conservative when it comes to charging speeds. The company may want to prevent the battery from wearing out too quickly or releasing too much heat. Competitors are less concerned about this. The recently presented Xiaomi 11T Pro can, for example, charge with no less than 120 Watts. This means that an empty battery is full again within 17 minutes (!).

More about the iPhone 13

The iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch OLED screen, making it the largest device in the iPhone 13 series. A battery test shows that the smartphone is a true battery champion. We will of course also test this ourselves in an extensive review, which will soon be published on this website. Are you more interested in a smaller model?
