More equipment, but bpm also plays a role
The Suzuki Across will be a little more than €2,500 more, but you will not pay more for the same. The plug-in hybrid brother of the Toyota RAV4 is improved on two points.
For the Suzuki Across you currently have to pay €54,900, but with effect from the start the price of the plug-in hybrid SUV will be €57,350, AutoWeek can report before Suzuki itself publicizes it. You will soon spend €2,450 more for the Across than before. However, it is not an empty price increase, because you get more in return.
The Suzuki Across will get a new digital set of instruments. The Across already had a partially digital clock shop with a diameter of 7 inches, but the counter box is now completely virtual and now measures 12.3 inches. This means that, among other things, the analog pointers to indicate the content of the petrol tank and the status of the battery pack disappear.
But there’s more. For example, Suzuki replaces the 9-inch screen of the infotainment system for a considerably larger one. The new infotainment system measures 10.5 inches.
bpm also plays a role
Those two new larger screens are not the only cause of the price increase. For example, the new price of the Suzuki Across is based, among other things, on the higher bpm rates that will apply from 2023. Those higher bpm rates go hand in hand with a reduction of the CO2 bracket limits by 2.3 percent. As a result of these measures, the Suzuki Across – just like almost all other petrol and diesel cars – will be caught just a little harder by the tax authorities from 2023 onwards.
Suzuki Cross
As you may know, the Across is a brother of a Toyota model. Where the Suzuki Swace is in fact a Toyota Corolla TS 1.8 Hybrid with a Suzuki sauce, the Across is a Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid with a Suzuki front, other logos and standard equipment that differs on certain points. In the Netherlands, the Suzuki Across has always been executed as a richly equipped Style. The plug-in hybrid powertrain consists of a 2.5 four-cylinder engine that delivers 185 hp and 227 Nm. That petrol engine works together with two electric motors that bring the system power to 306 hp. You should be able to squeeze about 75 electric kilometers from the 18 kWh battery.
In addition to the Swace and Across, there are more Suzuki cars that are secretly a Toyota, although you will not find them in the Netherlands. This Suzuki Landy is a Toyota Noah and this Suzuki Grand Vitara and this Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder are brothers of each other. Toyota itself borrows the Baleno from Suzuki for the Starlet and the Glanza.
