Hold on tight and stay away from furniture with sharp corners. Suzuki has presented a new model in Indonesia: the XL7.
At the end of the nineties, Suzuki stretched the then current Grand Vitara a few centimeters and suddenly had an SUV on the price list with the XL-7 that was born with room for seven passengers. The successor presented in 2006, now known as XL7, did not come to our country. The brand new XL7 that Suzuki is now putting forward will never reach the Dutch roads via the official channels.
This new XL7 is less new than you would initially think. In fact, this Indonesian newcomer is an XL6 as it was presented in India last August (photos 11, 12 and 13). That XL6 shares its basis, just like the XL7, with the Ertiga, a seven-seater MPV. The XL6 and XL7 with their plastic wheel arch edges and rugged-looking bumper work are in fact a more SUV-like alternative to the Ertiga. Virtually the only difference between the XL6 and the XL7: the XL6 offers space for seven passengers while the XL6 is a six-seater. Where the XL6 has two separate seats in the second row of seats, the XL7 has a rear seat where three people can sit. In addition, the XL7 will soon be available in a two-tone color scheme.
Like the XL6, the XL7 is 4.45 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.74 meters. On the order list is a 105 hp and 138 Nm strong 1.5, a gasoline engine that can be connected to a manual five-speed gearbox and an automatic transmission with four gears.
