Google will announce its Pixel 7 series and/or the Pixel Watch in the Netherlands on October 6, which is what T-Mobile is suggesting with a message from Google that can be seen in a store in Rotterdam. We explain what’s going on.
Update 27/09 at 11:45 AM: Our astute reader and AW Beta tester Mathieu also notices a reference to the Pixel 7 in the teaser image T-Mobile posts on its website. We have amended this article.
Pixel 7 or Pixel Watch in the Netherlands
“Something special is coming on October 6”, with that message Google Netherlands recently teased the announcement of new products in the Netherlands. Still, Google is planning many different announcements next month. But now that the same message from Google can also be seen in a T-Mobile store, tech journalist saw that Bastiaan Earlypuzzle pieces begin to fall into place.
We expect that only two of Google’s upcoming products can make it to a T-Mobile store, and those are the Pixel 7 series and the Pixel Watch. In other words: Google’s smartphones that have skilfully evaded the Dutch market for years, or its very first smartwatch. The Pixel Watch is a candidate because a version with 4G will also appear, so T-Mobile could sell the watch together with a data bundle.
An additional clue has been discovered that strongly points in the direction of the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro. T-Mobile also publishes a teaser from Google on its website, and that image is named “GoogleP7PWindow165x250cm_S-AMS-Tease.jpg.”
Google’s caution
Google has previously been very careful when it comes to introducing its phones into new markets. That’s because the company struggled to claim market share in the United States, its home country. This year, smartphone sales figures for the second quarter of 2022 showed Google’s market share in North America rose to 2 percent, compared to 1 percent a year earlier.
So with the sales of the Pixel 6 series, Google managed to grow, but that market share is still limited if you put it in perspective. LG, for example, still had a 10 percent market share in the United States when it threw in the towel.
What can we expect?
What does that mean for the October 6 Made by Google event? That Google, somewhat boosted by growth figures, will take the leap this time and will sell its Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro in the Netherlands. The image on the T-Mobile website is also a strong clue.

There is still a lot of uncertainty about the Pixel Watch. Google may use a less cautious strategy for this than the one it has applied to its smartphones for years. In the past, it has already been proven that even more major shifts in the market share of manufacturers in the smartwatch market are possible, but it remains only speculation for the time being. Although Dutch fans of Google products will of course hope that both products will come out in our interior.
