It is now possible to take out a Netflix subscription from the iOS app, without Apple interfering. iOS apps have recently been able to link to their own website (again). Netflix is eager to take advantage of this.
Take out Netflix subscription: now via iOS app
Anyone who starts up the Netflix iOS app (and does not yet have a Netflix subscription) will see a new button that goes to the Netflix website. Here you can then take out a Netflix subscription. If you wanted to do this earlier, you had to surf to the website yourself first.
Apple blocked the option for apps to link to their own website. We’re happy for apps like Netflix and Spotify (and for ourselves) that Apple has now removed this limitation.
Not all iOS apps are allowed to link to website
Unfortunately, it is not possible for every app to add an external link to a website. Apple has given the green light for so-called readerapps to use this option. Fortunately, this way you can now take out a Netflix subscription via the iOS app.
This category includes video apps such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney Plus, music apps such as Spotify, and applications for reading books and articles. Tinder and other dating apps are also allowed to use the external link. However, these still have to pay a commission to the Cupertino company. However, Tinder does not agree at all with this.
No commission for Apple
This new option from Apple to purchase subscriptions via an iOS app is striking. In 2018, the company made it impossible to take out a Netflix subscription in the iOS application. New subscribers had to take out their subscription via the website. Netflix chose this because otherwise they would have to hand over a commission to Apple.

Netflix too expensive
There will also be more changes at Netflix, because the streaming service will also offer a cheaper subscription with advertising. However, there is a downside to this, as some of your favorite movies and series will not be available. So if you want to see all the movies and series from Netflix, you have to take one of the more expensive subscriptions.
Do you think that is really too expensive? Then you can always switch to Disney Plus or HBO Max, for example.
