Jaguar Land Rover CEO Sir Ralph Speth would retire this year. It seems that he has to go on a bit longer if he responds to the wishes of JLR’s parent company Tata.
Sir Ralph Speth is currently still at the helm of Jaguar Land Rover, but the 64-year-old CEO of German descent is approaching retirement. The original planning was to say goodbye next summer. However, that kite does not seem to hold, because according to Bloomberg Tata Motors has asked him to tow Jaguar Land Rover through the corona crisis. Speth would originally remain in an advisory role on the board of directors after his departure as CEO, but now it seems that he will hold the reins himself for a bit longer.
Under the leadership of Speth, the offerings of both Jaguar and Land Rover have been significantly modernized and market share has increased in various markets. In the Chinese market in particular, it has been getting better since taking office and JLR has entered a fairly upward trend. Speth was involved when it fell under Ford. After the sale to Tata, Speth moved on to his current role. Because of his earnings for the British car industry, he was knighted as ‘Sir’ Speth.
