The Apple Watch Series 10 is significantly thinner and has a larger screen. And if you’re curious about the inside of the watch, you can check out the new teardown below iFixit to look at.

Display

The Apple Watch Series 10 packs a lot of technology into a small casing. This makes the Apple Watch difficult to repair. iFixit shows that to access the internal components you still need to heat the display before removing it.

The parts are so well put together that the space between the glass and the metal is only 0.176 millimeters. This certainly contributes to the water resistance of the watch. In addition, the antennas on the Cellular models are now built right into the structure of the case.

Battery

In the teardown of the Apple Watch Series 10, the Taptic Engine and the 1266 Wh battery are visible after removing the screen (the watch in the video is a 46 mm version). This is approximately the same capacity as that of the battery in the previous versions. Unlike the iPhone, the Apple Watch’s battery is attached with a simple adhesive that can be easily removed.

Other components

To access other parts you have to remove many small connectors and small screws. iFixit also took a closer look at the OLED screen of the Apple Watch. Although Apple claims the Series 10 has a new panel that you can view from more angles, the structure appears to be much the same as before.

The Apple Watch’s sensors are underneath all the other parts, so replacing them is still quite difficult. While iFixit is positive about the new, sleeker design, the Apple Watch Series 10 only gets a score of 3 out of 10 for repairability in this teardown.

In addition to the new design, the Apple Watch Series 10 also has louder speakers and is available in new materials and finishes. It also supports faster charging compared to the Series 9. Prices for the Series 10 start at €448.95 for the 42mm version.
