Tesla is still pulling tongues. Not only on AutoWeek.nl. Tesla is by far the most discussed car brand online, according to research by GlobalData.
Research firm GlobalData puts Tesla at the top of the list of most discussed car brands online. Tesla is by far the most mentioned in discussions on Twitter and Reddit. Tesla is said to have referred to as many as 461,200 “discussions” on those digital channels between January 1 and November 17 this year. That is no less than 130 percent more than in the same period last year. According to Global Data, Tesla figures peaked when it was announced that Tesla would deliver 100,000 cars to rental company Hertz.
In second place we find Toyota, although the gap between Tesla and Toyota is huge. GlobalData says Toyota starred in 143,400 discussions on Twitter and Reddit this year. Yet that is 50 percent more than in the same period last year. On the digital channels, Toyota was discussed a lot after it presented the new Tundra – with hybrid powertrain.
Daimler, parent company of Mercedes-Benz, is in third place with 137,000 discussions on Twitter and Reddit. The brand had 13 percent more ‘threads’ than between January and November last year. Especially around the launch of the EQS, there was a lot to do online for Mercedes-Benz. In fourth and fifth place we successively find Honda (116,700 discussions) and Ferrari (100,500 discussions). Striking: Ferrari was discussed 40 percent less often on Twitter and Reddit than in the same period last year. Places six to ten are successively occupied by Porsche, Mazda, Nissan, General Motors and Hyundai.
