Only from Berlin

The Tesla Model Y is available in new colors. ‘Quicksilver’ and ‘Midnight Cherry Red’ replace similar previous shades and cost a pretty penny extra.
Tesla has been offering its models in five colors in recent years, which are the same for all models. ‘Pearl White Multi-Coat’ is free, for black, dark grey, blue or red you pay extra. The gray and red paints are being replaced by new colors especially for the Berlin-built Tesla Model Y. ‘Midnight Silver Metallic’ becomes ‘Quicksilver’, a lighter and more sparkling silver color. The earlier ‘Red Multi-Coat’ becomes ‘Midnight Cherry Red’, a slightly darker shade.
With the new colors you drive a bit more exclusive, but that costs a bit. Tesla is asking €3,000 extra for Quicksilver, against €1,600 for the ‘old’ Midnight Silver. Red previously cost €2,000 more, but in the new Cherry form requires an investment of €3,200.
‘Cherry Red’
An even bigger disadvantage is that the new paint colors are exclusively intended for Model Y’s that roll off the production line in Berlin. That means the new colors are only available on the Long Range (€66,995) and the Performance (€71,005). The new, extremely attractive, rear-wheel-drive entry-level version is therefore excluded for the time being and is only available in the ‘old’ colors. That may change in the future. Tesla may use the colors in other factories, although nothing is officially known about this. For now, customers outside of Europe and the Middle East can whistle for ‘Quicksilver’ and ‘Cherry Red’.
