Tesla Model Y narrowly became Europe’s best-selling car in February

Not the Dacia Sandero, but the Tesla Model Y was allowed to call itself the most popular car in Europe in February 2023. Close, but still.

Tesla sold 18,153 Model Ys in February, 167 percent more than in the same month last year, Automotive News reports using figures from Dataforce. According to the same figures, reigning sales champion Dacia Sandero managed to seduce 18,068 buyers in February, 85 less than the Tesla. This means that not the Romanian budget hatchback, but the high-tech EV is the most popular car in Europe in February.

Although it is certainly remarkable that a car in this price segment is becoming so popular, the success of the Model Y is not very surprising. Not only did it happen before, but Tesla also introduced a more economical rear-wheel drive version in recent months and has lowered prices worldwide. Don’t be surprised if the Tesla scores excellent again in March, because Tesla closes the quarter with significant discounts.
