Tesla has had a particularly strong quarter. It was already known that it sold a record number of cars. Now profits also appear to have been higher than ever.
Tesla was able to deliver a record number of cars in the third quarter of 2021, 241,300 units. If that wasn’t a reason to celebrate, it probably is now. Tesla has also recorded its highest quarterly profit ever in the books. The profit came in at almost €1.4 billion. Turnover amounted to roughly €11.9 billion.
By comparison, Tesla started 2021 with a quarterly profit of more than €376 million and saw it rise to just over $1 billion in Q2, or €980 million. According to Automotive News part of the profit is also attributable to the sale of emission credits. According to the medium, Tesla raked in just under €240 million with this.
The last thing Tesla does is rest on its laurels. At the presentation of the figures, it reports that it wants to work towards a 50 percent growth in sales in the coming years, although there is no hard deadline for that goal yet. “That depends on our production capacity, efficiency and the stability and capacity of the supplies.” In terms of production capacity, a lot depends on the commissioning of the new factory near Berlin, among other things. Tesla says it is still aiming to start European production of the Model Y there before the end of the year.
