The small against the large

Tesla is taking an Indian company that makes batteries to court. Tesla believes that the company called Tesla Power USA is violating Tesla’s trademark rights for the purpose of selling its own products.
The American Tesla is not exactly happy with the name of the New Delhi-based company Tesla Power USA, a company registered as Tesla Power India Pvt Ltd. Tesla Power USA – which makes 12v batteries for cars, among other things – is said to be violating Tesla’s trademark rights. According to ANP, Tesla requested the company two years ago to stop selling its batteries under the company name, but this was not responded to.
Tesla wants compensation and demands that the judge in New Delhi oblige the company to use a different trade name. Both parties were heard by the judge earlier this week, in which Tesla emphasized that it had no choice but to bring the case to trial. The Indian company, in turn, stated that it only makes and sells simple lead-acid batteries and that it will never focus on the production of electric cars. The next hearing will take place on May 22.
