1. There is (still) no WhatsApp app for the iPad
It remains the biggest annoyance: the lack of a real app for the iPad. We regularly see the question whether the app will ever be available. Meta has already announced that a special WhatsApp app for the iPad is on the table, but it will take a very long time.
It is also not entirely clear why it takes so long for Meta to release WhatsApp for the iPad. There may be issues with the app’s development, and the company may need more time to release the final version.
Do you still want to use WhatsApp on the tablet? Then you have to rely on the web version of WhatsApp. You use it via Safari, but it does not have all the functions that you can use in the app.
2. Being added to WhatsApp groups without being asked
WhatsApp has a feature that (depending on your settings) automatically adds you to groups. Sometimes that can be quite useful, but often these options are abused by strangers and it causes considerable annoyance.
The police have often indicated that this function can also pose a danger with regard to phishing, fraud, scams, etc. That is why it is better to disable this function and only allow contacts to add you to groups. That will also save you a lot of annoyance.
- Open WhatsApp;
- Go to ‘Settings’;
- Tap ‘Privacy’;
- In the next window, choose ‘Groups’;
- Tap ‘My Contacts’ to allow only your contacts to invite you to groups on WhatsApp.
3. Automatically save photos
When you are in multiple groups, many photos, pictures and videos are undoubtedly shared. That’s fine and even fun in itself, but not if all those pictures also end up in your own Photos app.
Therefore, disable WhatsApp from automatically saving photos and videos as soon as possible. You do this in the following way.

- Tap ‘Settings’;
- Go to ‘Chats’;
- Turn off the slider next to ‘Save to Photos’.
