Best iOS Games May 2019

Puzzle games come in all shapes and sizes. For example, you play with time in The Gardens Between and you have to react quickly in Jumpgrid. Don’t have much time to game? Don’t worry, because both KIDS and The Stillness of the Wind will be over in no time. Still, both games leave a long impression.

1. The Gardens Between

The Gardens Between is a unique puzzle game. In each level, your ultimate goal is to bring an orb of light to the exit. Along the way you will encounter all kinds of obstacles, such as plants that want to eat the orb.

The game is controlled by fast-forwarding or rewinding time, watching as two friends walk through the gardens on their way to their goal. Meanwhile, you have to make sure that the characters do certain actions to actually make it to the end. For example, they can place a ball of light on a jumping robot, to pick it up again later in the level.

The obstacles keep getting bigger and bigger. This way you quickly come across bridges that only exist if you don’t have a light bulb with you. In this way you have to think more and more and rinse back and forth, to arrive at the solution. It is also nice that the game can be played both horizontally and vertically and you only need one finger.

2. KIDS

This short interactive animation is about crowds. They fall through holes, run in one direction and hit each other. The unique style and bizarre events are more than worth it. Even though the game only lasts 15 minutes to half an hour.

3. The Stillness of the Wind

In The Still of the Wind it’s time to relax. You play as Talme, an elderly lady who maintains her home and small farm. She is alone, but now and then receives letters from acquaintances in the city. These letters get more and more intense, but it is up to Talma to focus purely on her small farm.

Pick vegetables, make cheese and hug your goat. Give yourself the time to lose yourself in this and you will get something beautiful in return. The game is quite short though.

4. Jump grid

Jumpgrid is a fast-paced puzzle game. The idea is that you have to pick up every node on a grid. You do this by jumping from node to node.

Sound simple? Then add some fast moving obstacles and suddenly it’s a different story. You have to solve the puzzles in a few seconds. Are you making a mistake? Then the level resets very quickly so that you can make the next attempt.

5. Dagger Hood

Daggerhood is a platformer with a fun gimmick. You are holding a knife that you can throw, after which it returns to your hands.

That’s not cool, because if you throw the blade and press the button before the weapon returns, you’ll teleport to the location of the blade. That idea opens up a lot of possibilities in platform sections where you have to react quickly.
