The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is the first new version of the Ultra since 2023 – these are the improvements that you can expect next month.
Improvements Apple Watch Ultra 3
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 will probably be presented in September and these are the five improvements that we are pretty sure of:
1. Satellite connection
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is the first Apple Watch with satellite connection. The device will mimic the function of the iPhone 14 and later models, so that without a mobile connection or WiFi you can still send and receive messages. This is one of the improvements so that the Ultra 3 can compete better with wearables from Garmin, for example.
2. Larger screen
It seems that the Apple Watch Ultra has 3 thinner edges, which means that more screen space is available. So far we have not heard any rumors about a larger housing.
3. Support for 5G
All mobile Apple Watch models are currently using LTE. According to rumors, Apple will use the Modem chip of MediaTek with 5G RedCap support. 5G RedCap is a 5G service that is designed for wearables that do not need standard 5G speeds. It should nevertheless be faster than LTE.
4. Faster S11 chip
Apple regularly updates the chips in Apple Watch models. That is why we expect the Ultra 3 to be the S11 this year. The S11 is expected to have a more compact and more efficient design. We may therefore see an improvement in the battery life in the Ultra 3.
5. Detection of high blood pressure
This is still not entirely certain, but Apple does work on a function for measuring blood pressure with the Apple Watch. It is only unclear whether the function is ready for the Ultra 3 on time. There are some problems with accuracy and reliability.
Do not expect exact systolic and diastolic values. Instead, the Apple Watch will check for hypertension and give a warning when this is detected over time.
Both the Ultra 3 and the Series 11 get improvements
Most of these functions are also mentioned for the Apple Watch Series 11, with the exception of satellite connection and the larger screen. The series 10 already received a larger screen last year and the satellite function is probably an exclusive sales argument for the Ultra.
Both the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and the Apple Watch Series 11 receive Watchos 26, with the Liquid Glass-design. Also expect an updated smart stack, an adaptable control panel and the workout buddy that motivates you to stay fit.
