The best Ring doorbell of the moment: a good choice for every budget

Are you looking for a smart doorbell? Then it is often difficult to choose one. But don’t worry! iPhoned tells you what the best Ring smart doorbell is (and that for every budget).

Do you know it? Have you just been working in the garden and someone is at the door. You have to drop everything again and run to the front door. Wouldn’t it be easier if you could see who’s at the door on your iPhone (and then immediately ask what the person wants from you)? That is possible with a smart doorbell from Ring and they are available for every budget.

Ring Video Doorbell 3: best price-quality ratio

The Ring Video Doorbell 3 is for sale from 159 euros. This smart doorbell currently has the best price-quality ratio. It has all the functions you would expect with a beautiful, clear image (full-hd, 1080p). Please note that no Ring Chime is included as standard with all Ring doorbells.

The advantage of the Ring Video Doorbell 3 as opposed to the budget model is that it can be used both wired and with the rechargeable battery. In addition, the Ring Video Doorbell 3 can be connected to WiFi via the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. That way you get a message on your smartphone just a little faster when someone is at the door.

There is also a Ring Doorbell 4, but it is almost identical to version 3. The main difference is that the Ring Video Doorbell 4 features a ‘Pre-Roll’ in color. The Pre-Roll is the piece of film you see just before someone shows up at the door. This gives you up to 4 seconds of extra footage prior to a motion notification.

Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2: better view and more options

Do you want a smart doorbell from Ring that can do just that little bit more than the Doorbell 3? Then check out the Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 (246 euros). It records camera images in 1536p, making the image slightly sharper than with other Ring doorbells.

It has motion detection zones that you can adjust, just like the other Ring Video Doorbells, but the Pro 2 also has 3D motion detection. This allows the doorbell to recognize a little faster when someone walks to your door (and you will receive a notification on your smartphone sooner).

Another advantage is the increased vertical viewing angle and motion detection angle (both 150 degrees vertically), so you can see someone from head to toe. On the other hand, the view in width is slightly less: 150 degrees for the Pro 2, and 160 degrees for the Video Doorbell 3. The angle for motion detection is also less horizontally: 180 degrees for the Doorbell 3 and 150 degrees for the Pro 2.

Do you really want the cream of the crop? Then check out the Ring Doorbell Elite. It costs 424 euros, but has better detection zones, among other things. In addition, messages come in even faster and it has support for ‘Power over Ethernet’. With this, the Doorbell Elite also receives its power via the network cable (UTP cable).

Ring Video Doorbell Wired: On a Budget

There is also a second generation of the Ring Video Doorbell, with a motion detection angle of 180 degrees. It can also be connected to an existing 8-24V AC doorbell signal (the first version cannot do that). You pay a little more, because it costs 99 euros.

Ring Chime: not necessary, but handy

The Ring Chime works in tandem with your Ring doorbell and is a wireless notification device. Is someone at the door? Then you will hear this through the Ring Chime. Handy if you don’t always have your smartphone with you.

You don’t necessarily need a Ring Chime with your smart doorbell, but it is handy. A separate Ring Chime costs about 35 euros.
