The Chrysler Voyager as a retro dream

MPV left? Maybe, but make it a cult van!

The Chrysler Voyager as a retro dream

You already saw three retro dreams on the site this week, the fourth is perhaps the most bizarre: we imagine a retro version of the Chrysler Voyager. Could it have been a nightmare? No, certainly not, because MPVs may be completely out, if you pour a special sauce over them, it can take on cult-like shapes. That’s why our illustrator drew a Chrysler Voyager in 2022.

You can set up a nice tree about which manufacturer had the first MPV. Was it Fiat with the Multipla from the 1960s, was it Nissan with the Prairie from the early 1980s, Renault with the Espace in 1984 or Chrysler with the first Voyager? Whoever it was in this retro dream, we want to put Chrysler on the trail of a retro MPV. They will not be the first to do so, because Volkswagen already has the ID Buzz, although it is of course a modern EV that is a nod to the T1 with a lot of imagination. And that was a ‘bussie’.

Retro-Voyager must become more than a wink

The retro Voyager must become much more than a wink, we want a new guise for an electric passenger bus that is very similar to the first Voyager. Just as the Dodge group has already created a very successful Challenger and Charger, shouldn’t the designers also be able to enjoy themselves on a new Voyager that is clearly recognizable as a retro model?

The fact that the American branch of Stellantis has ears for a retro EV was already apparent from the fierce Charger Daytona concept. Who knows, this retro dream might help them on their way to doing something similar with the Voyager, which was called Chrysler Town & Country there and was sold as a Dodge Caravan.
