“The first electric Cadillac is coming this spring”

While at Cadillac the dust is still picking up after the unveiling of the brand new Escalade, the following, perhaps even bigger news is almost coming. The first all-electric car of the brand will be coming soon.

A large American car no longer needs a large combustion engine as standard. This is evident from the success of cars such as the Tesla Model X and the series of announced electrically driven pickups from various American brands. The EV will also gain more ground on the other side of the Atlantic and Cadillac responds with a brand new SUV. According to Automotive News the brand will introduce the car to the world in April. A concept shown one year ago is the logical prelude to this.

In January last year, Cadillac in Detroit already showed a futuristic lined crossover with electrical power. The production version of this comes on General Motors’ new EV platform, which offers both front, rear and four-wheel drive as options. This still unnamed Cadillac will probably be the first model to use it. It marks a big change for Cadillac. According to Cadillac CEO Steve Carlisle, the brand wants to have completely shifted its focus from internal combustion engines to electric powertrains by the end of this decade.
