Early next year, Renault’s fresh CEO Luca de Meo will come up with a restructuring plan for Renault, Dacia and Alpine. On the way there, the CEO already says something about what lies ahead.
Luca de Meo has been brought in at Renault to ensure that Renault manages to make more profit. The focus is also on subsidiary brands Dacia and Alpine. To arrive at a good plan, De Meo put together a team of forty people. According to the French Caradisiac it is a five-year plan that will consist of three phases. “It will not be a wish list, but an action plan.”
Renault is said to focus on increasing its sales volume. So there are not so many more new models, but the numbers have to increase. According to De Meo, Renault’s new hybrid E-Tech technology and the new CMF-EV platform are the perfect opportunities for this. There is also a future within the French group for Dacia and Alpine. Earlier it seemed that Renault would turn its back on its sporty brand Alpine, but according to De Meo “can remain a niche brand”. It just needs to be better exploited.
The Italian has big plans for Dacia. He calls it a miracle that a brand in the budget segment can already generate so much money. “It is time for Dacia to flourish as a brand.” This may mean that in addition to the electric Spring, quite a few more new Dacias will be heard.
