The green giant

Concentrated feed with a very high protein content can be produced from fresh grass. Many other products, such as a vegan breast milk substitute, can also be made from grass.

Vegan food, high-quality textiles, bio-plastic, carbon fibres, biogas or aviation fuel: all of this practically grows on the meadow. Scientists now want to develop grass as a universal raw material.

There are so many major issues for the future, and they are all urgent: How can we replace fossil fuels sustainably? What can be done to stem the global flood of plastic? Are there environmentally friendly alternatives to resource-intensive soy and cotton production? Uffe Jörgensen's answer to all these questions is: grass, grass and more grass. The agricultural ecologist from the Danish University of Aarhus has been researching the green raw material on his doorstep for nine years.
