iOS 18.5 Beta 1 is out (with these improvements for your iPhone)

Apple has released iOS 18.5 beta 1! Are you curious about which new functions are coming to your iPhone? This is new in the first test version of iOS 18.5.

iOS 18.5 Beta 1

A new test version of iOS 18 is available again! Apple has released iOS 18.5 beta 1 for developers. The first beta of iOS 18.5 follows briefly on the previous update, because Apple released the final version of iOS 18.4 earlier this week. With that software version, a series of new functions came to your iPhone, including new emoji and more buttons in the control panel. Apple Intelligence can also be used in Europe.

In the background, Apple is now working hard on iOS 19, making iOS 18.5 a relatively small update. That can be seen in iOS 18.5 Beta 1, because Apple is implementing a number of subtle improvements. One of those changes is the switch-on or off of contact photos in the renewed Mail app. In iOS 18.4 this is only possible via the settings of your iPhone, from iOS 18.5 this is also possible via the mail app itself.

More Improvements

The settings app on your iPhone also has a handy function. Under ‘Settings> General> AppleCare and Warranty’ you will find more information about AppleCare from iOS 18.5 beta 1. Apple has added a new framework in the test version, in which AppleCare is better explained. That is a big difference with iOS 18.4, in that software version the framework is still missing. You can see which devices fall under AppleCare or warranty.

Have you concluded AppleCare when purchasing a new iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or Mac? Then from iOS 18.5 you can see more clearly which services are covered at AppleCare. In iOS 18.5 Beta 1 you go to ‘Settings> General> AppleCare and Warranty’ and tap one of your Apple devices. There you can see whether you still have a guarantee on the device and you can adjust the AppleCare coverage.

Release of iOS 18.5

In the first test version of iOS 18.5, Apple has therefore implemented small improvements. Developers can now get started with iOS 18.5 Beta 1, so that they can be the first to try out the latest functions. This software version is not intended for all users, especially if the iPhone is used daily. Apple uses betas to test new functions, which often do not yet work properly.

We probably have to wait a while for the official release of iOS 18.5, because beta 1 has just appeared. Last year Apple IOS released 17.5 on 13 May, probably iOS 18.5 this year will be around the same date. That means that the next update starts or mid -May is available on your iPhone.
