It's annoying not being able to remember something. But not keeping everything in memory is a vital function of the brain.

Missed appointments, failing exams, mental decline - forgetfulness is feared. There is also a good side to the fact that people can forget: If our brains did not regularly rebuild or at least weaken the synapse reinforcements responsible for memories, this would result in a cognitive collapse or epileptic seizures.
