The new Dacia Duster, but from Renault

With the new generation of Duster, Dacia shows a strikingly brutal side. What seems? Renault is also adding the Duster to its model range, but that has nothing to do with jealousy.

The digital equivalent of ‘the ink on the brochure of the new Dacia Duster’ still applies, or Renault also appropriates the new Duster. That is not entirely surprising. In Turkey, Russia and various South American countries, Dacia models are sold with Renault badges. Remarkably shortly after the unveiling of the new Dacia Duster, Renault is now showing its version.

Dacia Duster

Dacia Duster: the original.

Just like the previous generations of Duster, there is a Renault version of the new model. Renault has now shown the first photos of this. Don’t expect any earth-shattering changes. The new Renault Duster is, above all, very Duster. However, the part between the headlights is significantly different on the Renault Duster. The brand name Renault is now written there in cow letters, while the original has a Dacia logo. On the Dacia Duster we find horizontal elements on either side of that logo that visually connect to the light signature in the headlights. On the Renault Duster there is no room for those trim parts and the lighting therefore does not visually blend into the grille.

Dacia Duster

Dacia Duster: the original has different rear lights.

The changes to the rear are extremely minimal, but still interesting. While Dacia writes out its brand name in full on the rear of the Duster, Renault does not do so on its Duster – unlike on the front. Renault chooses to stick its logo on the Duster bottom. The rear lights of the Renault Duster are also slightly different from those of the original. For example, the Renault lacks the red element on the side of the rear lights. So no 15-year-old design element for the new Renault Duster.
