According to Mark Gurman, new MacBook Pro models with the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are planned for macOS 26.3. This version of MacOS will be released in February or March. And once macOS 26.3 is here, the new hardware will follow quite quickly.

Apple often links new Macs to a software release. MacOS 26.3 is already in beta and it looks like the final version will be released this month.

But there is another indication that new Macs are on the way. The heavier configurations of the current M4 Pro and M4 Max MacBook Pros are less available. Limited availability often means that a successor is ready.

Don’t expect any major changes with the new MacBook Pro. This update seems to mainly be an improvement under the hood. The MacBook Pro with M5 Pro or M5 Max will probably only get a new chip. What further influence this will have on battery consumption, for example, remains to be seen. But secretly we think there is some improvement there. Please be patient!
