Volkswagen is sticking its sporty R-label on a hybrid model for the first time. The Touareg R is therefore not just a hybrid, but one with 462 hp and 700 Nm.

Volkswagen presents the most powerful Touareg ever. In addition to a 340 hp 3.0 V6 petrol engine, the Touareg R has an electric motor with 100 kW (136 hp), which allows the SUV to drive fully electrically. Volkswagen does not specify a range yet, but it does make it clear that the top speed in that case is 140 km / h. The Touareg R has a battery pack of 14.1 kWh, which is concealed under the bottom of the luggage compartment.

In the combined driving mode, the maximum speed is limited to 250 km / h. The power that the two engines can deliver together is 462 hp, the torque is no less than 700 Nm. The Touareg automatically regulates the most ideal drive, but the driver can also determine how the hybrid system works.

The Touareg R is decorated with various dark accents and 20-inch wheels. The car that you see in the photos even has 22-inch wheels, which are optionally available. The interior is also sporty, with sports seats and dark upholstery.

The prices of the Touareg R are not yet known.
