With iOS 12, Apple is adding custom commands to Siri, making the voice assistant a lot smarter and more convenient. iPhoned lists the best apps that already support Siri Shortcuts.
The best Siri Shortcuts apps in a row
One of the most interesting additions to iOS 12 is Siri Shortcuts. With the Commands app from Apple, you create sequences of actions that you control via the voice assistant. This is possible with sentences that you make up yourself.

Apps must first support Siri Shortcuts before you can use them through the Shortcuts app. Below we list the best apps that have already received a Siri Shortcuts update. Download the Assignments app via the button below and press ‘Create assignment’ in the app, search and look under the heading ‘Apps’ to find your installed apps. Is your installed app not listed here? Then you have to look in the settings of the app itself to use Siri Shortcuts.
Siri Shortcuts with apps from Apple
1. Apple Music
Of course it is possible to use Apple Music via Siri Shortcuts. With your chosen phrases you play music, search for specific music, get details of songs you listen to, put songs in a playlist and so on.

3. Reminders
Do you use Apple’s Reminders app to save notes? Then it is easy to add a reminder with Siri Shortcuts, search your reminders, request details of reminders and more.
4. Mail
Apple’s Mail app is also participating in Siri Shortcuts. Via Shortcuts it is possible to send an e-mail and do various actions with e-mail addresses.
2. Cards
The Maps app is also being expanded with Siri Shortcuts. For example, it is possible to calculate your distance or travel time with your own sentences. You can search for nearby businesses or have your addresses displayed.

5. Health
With the collaboration between Siri Shortcuts and the Health app, you can record a workout or a health value, or ask how your health is doing.
6. Photos
Use Siri in the Apple Photos app to save photos to your photo album or find your latest photos or screenshots. You can also search your photos with the improved iOS 12 photo search engine.

Safari
Siri Shortcuts in combination with web browser Safari gives you the option to open links, run javascript, add something to your reading list, search the web or open a specific web page.

8. Overcast
With the great podcast app Overcast you use Siri Shortcuts to start a podcast, pause or go to the next episode. If you are looking for more precision, you will also be able to do so. This way you can make voices sound clear, adjust the speed and fast forward or rewind a bit.

9. Things 3
If you’re using Things 3 for the tasks you have yet to do, the Siri Shortcuts can help. For example, you can ask Siri what needs to be done today, or you can easily add a new task.
10. Halide
Halide is one of our favorite camera apps in the App Store and now the app also has support for Siri Shortcuts. You can ask Siri to take a photo, which is super handy if your camera is on a tripod. For example if you take a group photo.
11. Google News
Interestingly enough, Google is early this time. Via Siri Shortcuts you get the option to, among other things, view the latest news headlines or your overview, or open your favorites.

12. Sky Guide
With Sky Guide you can identify the different stars and planets in space. Via the new Siri Shortcut, you only have to point your device to a star and ask what star it is. Siri then uses the app to spot the star.
13. Streaks
With the Streaks app you keep track of tasks that help you to learn good habits. Consider, for example, walking the dog daily or not smoking. With Siri Shortcuts you give each task its own sentence, so that you only have to speak when an action has been completed.
14. Carrot Weather
Of course, Carrot Weather is one of the first apps to support Siri Shortcuts. Carrot Weather supports no less than eighteen shortcuts that you set via the iOS settings menu. This way you always know where you stand when it comes to the weather in the coming days.

15. Bear
Bear is one of our favorite note taking apps for iOS. So it’s extra nice that the app is one of the first to offer Siri Shortcuts. With these shortcuts you can quickly create a new note or search through your old notes.
