Apple has officially announced watchOS 27 and we immediately know which models will support the new software. Bad news, because a lot of Apple Watch models will be discontinued this year. As many as five Apple Watch models cannot install the software update.
This means you can install the new watchOS 27 update on the Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, and the Apple Watch SE 3rd generation. Older Apple Watch models will no longer receive updates. watchOS will be 27 this fall expected.

In addition, watchOS 27 requires an iPhone 11 (Pro) or newer with iOS 27. If you have an older iPhone, but a new Apple Watch, you cannot install watchOS 27. If you are considering purchasing a new Apple Watch, it is wise to choose a model that still receives updates. Consider recent versions or models that were launched about two years ago.
