Only as a hybrid
Fiat brings hybrid power to the Tipo to replace the previously known motorization. Now the price of the Fiat Tipo Hybrid is also known: you can get in from just under €30,000.
About a month ago, Fiat announced that both the 500X and Tipo will be introduced to the hybrid powertrain that we already know from the Jeeps Renegade and Compass. It consists of a new 1.5 turbo petrol engine that generates 130 hp and is supported by a 20 hp electric motor. Shifting is via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Of course, the partly electric power should reduce consumption, which is an average of 4.7 l/100 km, according to Fiat. On paper, that should be up to 11 percent more economical than with the 1.3 petrol engine that we previously knew in the Tipo. We do not see that 1.3 again and also the 1.0, because the Tipo Hybrid will be the only available version from now on.
Prices start at €29,990 for the Tipo Hatchback. Prefer the Tipo Station Wagon? Then you have lost at least €30,990. Then there is of course the more adventurously decorated Cross, which should cost €33,290. New is the Cross version of the Tipo station wagon. It is available from €34,290 and, like the hatchback version of the Cross, it stands higher on its legs and has ‘skid plates’, a different grille and modified bumpers. The Fiat Tipo Hybrid is expected at the dealer from mid-May.
