AGTZ Twin Tail

Ever wanted to have a car that is, to some extent, two at the same time? Then wait for the delivery of this AGTZ Twin Tail. That is a converted Alpine A110 that has a great switch trick. Unfortunately, it will cost you €650,000. And yes: that excludes VAT and BPM…

The Italian design house Zagato has embraced the Polish La Squadra for a special project. It couldn’t start without Alpine. The two companies took the Alpine A110 by the scraps and turned it into the AGTZ Twin Tail. But, what is that? And does it have to resemble anything?

The AGTZ Twin Tail is to some extent a modern interpretation of the Alpine A220 (photos 14 and 15), a racing car introduced in 1968 that appeared in short form – as shorttail – and with an extended buttock was: the A220 longtail. The AGTZ Twin Tail is actually both a long and a short tear nose. The car has an immensely long but removable rear bumper. With this long rear bumper, the Twin Tail must be on the longtailversion of the A220. Without, of course, on the short side.

Of course, the AGTZ Twin Tail is more than just an A110 with an interchangeable rear. The front lid is completely new, as are the much larger headlights that obviously refer to those of the A220. In fact, you have to look pretty closely to see anything of the original in the special creation.

Zagato will only make 19 copies of the AGTZ Twin Tail. They each cost €650,000 excluding local taxes. Oof..
